ArmInfo. Armenia attaches importance to the further strengthening of relations with the European Union. Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan told EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus Toivo Klaar during a meeting.
At the same time, he highly appreciated the cooperation within the mandate of the EU special representative.
Klaar, congratulating Mnatsakanyan on his appointment, confirmed the readiness of the EU to further strengthen relations with Armenia.
The sides touched upon the agenda of Armenia-EU relations, the prospects for cooperation within the framework agreement signed between Yerevan and Brussels, stressing that the agreement is based on common values and serves as a good basis for strengthening bilateral cooperation.
The agenda also included the launching of a dialogue on the liberalization of the visa regime and the program of action. The interlocutors discussed topical issues of the international and regional agenda, exchanged views on the latest developments around the Iranian nuclear program.
Touching upon the settlement of the Karabakh conflict, Mnatsakanyan stressed that the status of Artsakh and ensuring security is Armenia's priority in the negotiations.
Touching upon the statements from Baku, the Armenian Foreign Minister stressed that Yerevan is committed to continuing the process of settling the conflict peacefully through negotiations and within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group. Noting the need to create an atmosphere conducive to peace, Mnatsakanyan stated that Baku's rhetoric, while doing the exact opposite, adversely affects the negotiation process, and, therefore, must be stopped.
