ArmInfo. The son of the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan Ashot said that he decided to serve in the Defense Army of Karabakh. He said this in a video message on the page of the head of government in Facebook. Pashinyan also appealed to compatriots of conscription age living abroad.
According to Nikol Pashinyan, after his son turned 18, he decided to return to Armenia, and, according to the law, will go on military service. "My son Ashot entered the University of Tartu in 2016, and when I returned to Yerevan in January 2018, we all decided that he would not return there, because in March 2018 he turned 18, and he should go to military service in Armenia, and now with the first appeal Ashot will go on an urgent service to pay his debt to the Motherland, "he said in a video message. Ashot Pashinyan, in his turn, stated that he made a decision to apply to serve in the Artsakh Republic. "I have always held the opinion that the establishment of peace in the Artsakh conflict is in the hands of the Armenians, and the only effective way is to strengthen the Artsakh army, and on the basis of human and civic duty I decided to contribute to this peaceful path and the Armenian army, he declared.
At the same time, the Armenian Prime Minister appealed to all those liable for military service who are abroad, who are already 18, but have not yet turned 27 years old. Recalling that the summer appeal begins on July 1, he called on the conscripts to return to Armenia within the next 10-20 days and go on urgent military service "in order to fulfill their duty to their homeland." With the same appeal, he also appealed to those young men who live in Armenia, who, through co-operation or acquaintance, received a postponement from military service on medical indicators. "New Armenia is not for such ways," he said.
