ArmInfo. Official Yerevan closely follows the discussions in the Israeli Knesset on the  Armenian Genocide. On May 25, Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab  Mnatsakanyan told journalists on the margins of the 27th session of  the Board of Trustees of the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund.

"Armenia is closely following the situation in Israel on the issue of  the Armenian Genocide, but this issue should be evaluated from  different perspectives, I believe that this is primarily a  contribution to the international efforts to prevent new genocides."  This is an important issue for humanity and an important signal in  this direction, "Mnatsakanyan said.

At the same time, he noted that the international recognition of the  Armenian Genocide is one of the most important elements of the  Armenian foreign policy.

Mnatsakanyan also informed that the foreign policy priorities of the  new government will be presented shortly, and in this context noted  that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has already voiced the main  directions of this course.  To note, in the Israeli Knesset  discussions are held on the recognition of Armenian Genocide in the  Ottoman Empire. They are initiated by a member of the Knesset from  Meretz, Tamar Sandberg.  Discussions were initiated at the background  of deterioration of relations between Turkey and Israel. The proposal  was submitted to the Parliament on May 16 this year. Several Israeli  ministers and parliamentarians urged to recognize the Armenian  Genocide against the backdrop of insults and critical statements on  the part of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. It is noteworthy  that this step was negatively perceived in society and was regarded  as a step that may turn into a genocide issue obscene political  football.
