In particular, the prime minister wrote: "I am happy to report that after my meeting with Garegin Chugaszyan near the Matenadaran, the latter stopped the hunger strike." It should be noted that this morning, Nikol Pashinyan, in a telephone conversation with the head of the "Constituent Parliament" Garegin Chugaszyan, called on the latter to stop the hunger strike. Immediately after his release Garegin Chugaszyan went on a hunger strike demanding the release of political prisoners - members of the Sasna Tsrer and Zhirayr Sefilyan groups. He is on a hunger strike for 30 days. The day before Chugaszyan's state of health worsened.
Touching upon the release of political prisoners, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said earlier that he does not intend to call the judges and give orders, as was the case with the previous regime. However, he stressed that at present all conditions for justice have been created in Armenia. Nevertheless, the supporters of the Sasna Tsrer group, which captured the regiment of the Police Patrol Service and the former Defense Minister of Artsakh Samvel Babayan, who was sentenced to 6 years of imprisonment, in 2016, on a charge of attempting to smuggle Igla MPADS to Armenia, protest, demanding release of political prisoners.
