ArmInfo.Vice Speaker of the National Assembly, head of the Armenia- Slovakia friendship group Edward Sharmazanov met with the head of the Slovakia-Armenia friendship group Dusan Tittel on May 24 during his visit to Slovakia.

According to the press service of the Parliament, the parties turned  to the prospects for the development of bilateral relations. In the  development of the Armenian-Slovak inter-parliamentary relations, a  special role is assigned to the activities of the deputy friendship  groups. The importance of effective cooperation of parliamentary  delegations of the two countries at international venues was  underscored.

The Vice Speaker of the Parliament expressed his gratitude to Titel  for his unchanged personal position on the Armenian Genocide issue  and the promotion of an exhibition in the Slovak Parliament under the  slogan "Parliamentarians against genocides". He highly appreciated  the recognition and condemnation by the Slovak parliament of the  Armenian Genocide.

Turning to regional developments, Sharmazanov stressed: "We  parliamentarians should reject any manifestation of violence and  xenophobia, both Turkey and Azerbaijan are carrying out anti-Armenian  propaganda, which is unacceptable.

The international community must recognize the inviolable right of  the people of Artsakh to self- determination. Artsakh has as many  rights to independence as Slovakia, Armenia and Azerbaijan. "
