ArmInfo. Armenia will not allow changes in the location of positions on any part of the border. On May 22, during a press conference in Yerevan, spokesman for the Armenian Foreign Ministry Tigran Balayan said, referring to accusations of Baku that the aggravation of the situation on the Armenian-Azeri state border is due to the last visit of the Armenian Foreign Minister and the Defense Minister on the Armenian-Azerbaijani state border in the direction of Nakhijevan, as well as their trip to Artsakh.
"The purpose of the Minister's visit to the front line was reported to society. Ministers headed to the Armenian-Azeri state border in the direction of Nakhijevan because in this direction are carried out engineering works that pose an immediate threat to our position. At the same time, he added that in the reactions of the Defense Ministry of Armenia it was repeatedly stressed, and Azerbaijan was warned that such work aggravates the situation and can lead to undesirable victims.
"We are committed to ensure no changes in position in any part. The Minister clearly showed that by visiting Artsakh and the Armenian-Azeri state border," he said.
Answering the question whether the CSTO partners are informed on the current situation, Balayan stressed that the partners of Armenia at different levels are informed about this and that this situation can lead to tension.
On Sunday evening the Press Secretary of the Defense Ministry of Armenia Artsrun Hovhannisyan also said that in recent weeks the Azeri Armed Forces have been conducting active engineering work in some parts of the Armenian-Azeri border in order to improve and advance their positions. "The armed forces of Armenia from time to time, including in recent days warned Azeri side on the border with Armenia that activation of engineering and other provocative actions are the cause of the shootings, can lead to unwanted losses. Armenian armed forces have repeatedly stated that the destructive steps cannot remain unanswered and urged to abandon the actions aggravating the situation," Hovhannisyan said.
