ArmInfo.Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan on May 12 submitted to the officers of the Defense Ministry newly appointed head of the department David Tonoyan.
As press secretary of the Ministry Artsrun Hovhannisyan informed in his Facebook page, Nikol Pashinyan noted the importance of the challenges to be addressed, and thanked former Minister Vigen Sargsyan for the work done.
To note, David Tonoyan is not a new man in the Ministry of Defense - before the appointment of the head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (February 6, 2017), he worked as First Deputy Minister of Defense.
David Tonoyan was born on December 27, 1967. in the city of Ust-Kamenogorsk, Kazakhstan. In 1991 he graduated from the Yerevan State University, and in 1997 the Military-Diplomatic Academy of the Russian Federation. In 1992-1994 served in the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs to combat organized crime, in 1994 he transferred to military service in the Department of Military Police of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia as the head of the department. In 1997 began service in the Armaments Directorate of the Defense Ministry. In 1998-2004, held various positions at the headquarters of the NATO Allied Command Operations. In 2004-2007 was a representative of the Armenian Armed Forces in NATO. In the years 2007-2008 he was the head of the Office of International Military Cooperation and Defense Programs of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia. In 2008-2010 years, was the head of the Defense Policy Department of the Defense Ministry. Since October 2, 2010 he was the first deputy defense minister of Armenia.
