ArmInfo. On May 11, the representatives of the Ombudsman of Armenia visited the hunger striker Garegin Chugasian, Araik Khardoyan and Ashot Petrosyan at the Nubarashen penitentiary.
According to the message of the Ombudsman's office, the representatives of the Ombudsman from the very first days of the hunger strike went to Garegin Chugaszyan at the Nubarashen penitentiary with whom he had conversations, checked the conditions of his detention, his health and, in view of the documents available, the circumstances of the hunger strike. During his last visit on May 10, he was in clear consciousness, but weakened. Taking into account the declared hunger strike, Garegin Chugaszian's state of health requires more intensive medical control. In addition, the conditions in the cell are unacceptable. In this connection, the representatives of the Ombudsman, who are in constant communication with his lawyer, raised the issue of the immediate replacement of the detention chamber.
There were also conversations with Araik Khandoyan and Ashot Petrosyan. The problems they raised immediately found their solution. The attitude towards these persons requires a special medical approach and constant medical control, and the issue of an immediate solution to the problem is raised.
To recall, on April 24 this year Chairman of the Constituent Parliament Movement Garegin Chugaszyan left the underground and, along with other members of the movement, went to the Tsitsernakaberd Memorial to commemorate the victims of the Armenian Genocide. When Chugaszyan, who is accused of supporting the armed seizure of the patrol building in Yerevan in 2016, descended from the territory of the memorial complex, he was met and detained by the police. He has been on a hunger strike for over 14 days, demanding the release of all political prisoners. Since May 8, members of the "Sasna Tsrer" group Araik Khandoyan and Ashot Petrosyan joined the hunger strike of Garegin Chugaszyan.
