ArmInfo. Russian President Vladimir Putin sent a congratulatory telegram to Nikol Pashinyan on assuming the office of Prime Minister of Armenia, the Kremlin's press service reported.
According to the source, the head of the Russian state expressed hope for strengthening of the allied relations between the countries. "I hope that your activity as the head of the government will contribute to the further strengthening of friendly, allied relations between our countries, partnership within the framework of the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Eurasian Economic Union and the Collective Security Treaty Organization," the congratulatory telegram says.
Elected on Tuesday, Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan expects to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin on May 14 in Sochi in the framework of the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council. Pashinyan told TASS on the sidelines of the republic's parliament after the voting was over. "Of course, I plan to meet with Vladimir Putin on May 14 in Sochi," he said, responding to a question from a TASS correspondent.
The new Prime Minister also intends to visit Artsakh on Wednesday, May 9. "Tomorrow I'm going to Artsakh (the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic - TASS comment)," he said. Earlier, he said that if elected prime minister intends to seek international recognition of the republic.
