ArmInfo.Because of the fear to lose control under economy ruling RPA till the end will confront protests and try to keep power, well-known British political expert Thomas de Waal is convinced.
According to him, losing the power for the Serzh Sargsyan's party means losing control over monopolies and other illegal sources of enrichment in Armenian economy.
At the same time, the expert thinks that unforeseeable situation is being developed in Armenia.
"At the same time, the authorities made conclusions from the bloody suppression of protests in 2008. Which is why the sides of the political confrontations will possibly avoid force decisions. Further days will show how they can manage to act without blood", according Thomas de Waal to haqqin.az.
At that, the expert, reminding that in past the oppositionist MP Nikol Pashinyan criticized the authorities for entering EAEU and foreign policy considering the interests of Russia, expressed conviction that in case of victory of Pashinyan who is a supporter of pro-Western course, will not be able to break sharply with Russia, from which Armenia still strongly depends. "But it is obvious that the new government will conduct a balanced foreign policy," the expert believes. Referring to the influences of the events in Armenia to Karabakh conflict, Thomas de Waaal expressed confidence that while Armenian authorities issue is not settled, the process of the peaceful settlement of Karabakh conflict within MF OSCE will be fully frozen. "How it all will reflect directly to the conflict and possibility of restarting combat actions cannot be foreseen because of a number of reasons", the political expert said.
