ArmInfo.Candidate for premieres of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan talked with journalists today on the issue of Armenia's withdrawal from the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), which was demanded by the faction "Exit" in the recent past.
According to Pashinyan, it is one thing when you are an opposition and do not have the opportunity to discuss and solve existing problems in this context, but it's another matter when you have the power and all the possibilities of decisions in your hands. And there is no need to consider this position in terms of changing the position of the "Yelk" faction: "The issue of withdrawal from the EAEU is not worth it, but as I said, it does not mean that there are no problems there," he said.
The next important aspect that he touched on concerns Nagorno-Karabakh, or rather the question of whether he sees a likelihood of a change of power in the NKR. Pashinyan noted that he fully supports the leadership of the republic: "We fully support the leadership of the Republic of Artsakh," he stressed.
In the continuation of the topic, the candidate for the post of prime minister noted the importance of the downturn in tension in the Karabakh conflict zone with the involvement of the OSCE Minsk Group. According to him, if the current militaristic position of Baku does not change, then the Minsk Group should help Azerbaijan put an end to its aggressive rhetoric and return to constructive course. And in parallel to this, stressed the possible future head of the Cabinet, it is necessary to strengthen the armed forces of Armenia and the spirit of our servicemen.
He also said he was not going to persuade Republican deputies to vote tomorrow for his election: "I'm not going to persuade Republicans." There is a political situation, internal political crisis and now the task is to to resolve this crisis, "the deputy said.
And Pashinyan's main message: "After my election in the country, lawfulness will reign." At the same time, he reassured that personnel issues will be decided on a consensus basis. Pashinyan also assured that he will not have problems when forming the Cabinet.
As for his first steps as prime minister, Pashinyan said that he would immediately begin to prepare the country for an early election. At the same time, he was at a loss to specify the exact terms of the early elections.
Pashinyan also said that after the election security issues and army construction will be at the center of his attention. "After the election, I will certainly get acquainted with security issues," the oppositionist said.
