ArmInfo. Armenia can have closer relations with the Diaspora, if there is a greater balance within the government. This opinion was expressed in an interview with New Europe by the world-famous American rock musician of Armenian origin, soloist of the rock band System of a Down Serzh Tankian, referring to the recent events in Armenia.
At the same time, he is convinced that if as a result of recent events Armenia becomes a country that guarantees more equal rights, then undoubtedly, for the first time in many years people will return to their homeland.
At the same time, responding to a question about the possible participation of the Diaspora in the life of Armenia from the political, social and economic points of view, if a more transparent, anti-corruption and democratic government comes to power in the country, Tankian assured that the Diaspora will fully participate in it. "This means that the Diaspora will no longer hesitate in investing in the country. As the atmosphere in the country becomes more transparent, investments will come from different places. Corruption in all layers of society was destructive, disappointing and, ultimately, led to emigration, "the musician stated. At the same time, he added that corruption always exists in the upper echelons of power, but at least it should not influence ordinary citizens when they deal with courts, police, elections and many other spheres when people are forced to bribe to get a job. "Because of this, we are dealing with a constantly falling industry. It is necessary to carry out serious reforms to solve all these problems, "Tankian concluded.
