ArmInfo. The Armenian police issued a statement on the latest developments in the country and the possible development of the situation.
Police statement,in particular, says: "The police is not a subject of political processes and is solely on guard of the constitutional order. Like any citizen of the Republic of Armenia, every policeman hopes that the crisis that has developed in the country on May 1, 2018 will get its solution within the legislative authority in accordance with the letter and spirit of the Constitution, and our Republic will continue to live a peaceful, normal life. The police, within the limits of the powers established by law, will do everything to protect the life and health of participants in peaceful demonstrations, preserve the property and take no action to complicate the situation.
At the same time, the statement reads that some of the information obtained gives cause for concern. There is a potential threat that some radical groups, taking advantage of the current situation, can take group actions to provoke clashes with the police. We turn to the organizers of the demonstrations to keep in focus all the processes occurring during the rallies, isolating all those who make calls for violence, will sow hatred and intolerance. In accordance with the law "On Freedom of Assembly", we ask you to organize groups of controllers who will have white decals with the inscription "controller". Through these groups it will be possible to ensure cooperation with the police, in time to contact the police to remove from the venue of meetings of persons who grossly violate the peaceful nature of the demonstration. The police informs that in order to ensure the smooth running of the National Assembly and a number of government bodies, security measures will be taken, which also include restrictions on traffic and pedestrians in accordance with Article 22 of the law "On Police".
The police warns that attempts to illegally circumvent the restrictions, break through the police patrol, infiltrate the buildings of the territorial police agencies or specially protected major facilities will be unequivocally regarded as acts of violence, for the prevention of which the police will apply all the legal means. The police, in cooperation with other law enforcement agencies, fully owns the operational situation in the country, can foresee any threat to public security and monitor any situation. We are sure that sanity, coolness and absence of indifference to the future and authority of our country will help us to adequately get out of the current situation. "
