ArmInfo. Leader of the "Make a step" movement, opposition MP Nikol Pashinyan told the details of his meeting with the Russian Ambassador to Armenia Ivan Volynkin.
Answering the question of RBC, who initiated this meeting, and what main topics were discussed, in particular, he said: "I initiated this meeting, we discussed the situation in Armenia." We discussed many issues, and most importantly it is, of course, how Russia can understand situation and how Russia can contribute to the resolution of this situation."
To comment, doesn't he have any fears that, in the event of a protracted political crisis, Russia can take an uncomfortable position for them, given the Ukrainian experience, Pashinyan said he does not want to take into account the Ukrainian experience, because this is another story altogether.
"I want to state clearly (and this was discussed during the meeting with the ambassador) that this [protest] movement has no geopolitical context at all, and this is neither a move against Russia, nor against the United States, nor against the EU, nor against Iran, nor against Georgia, this movement is against corruption, this movement is against an ineffective government and this is purely an internal Armenian movement. There are some actors who want to imagine that they are doing something in agreement with Moscow [the speech is about the acting prime minister Arme Karen Karapetyan.] But I am very glad that the official representatives of Russia say they do not intend to interfere in the internal processes of Armenia, especially since there is no geopolitical context and there is not a drop of anti-Russian sentiments at all, "the lawmaker said.
He also informed that Nagorno-Karabakh issue has been discussed, though not in details, by Russian side . He also informed that on April 25 he also met with the EU ambassadors to Armenia and after a meeting with the Russian ambassador met with the US ambassador. It should be noted that there are no details of the meeting with the US ambassador yet.
