ArmInfo. Acting  Prime Minister of Armenia Karen Karapetyan does not know what the expression "candidate for Premiership proposed by the people " means.

For example, at a press conference in Yerevan on April 25,   responding to a question about the leader of "Say No" initiative, MP  Nikol Pashinyan stating  that in the early elections the ruling  majority in the the parliament should choose the candidate nominated  by the people for the Premiereship, Karapetyan in particular said:  "What does so-called p"people's  candidate" for Premiership mean,  explain it to me please. I do not know  any country where the  people's candidate is elected in this way.

There are citizens who are unhappy, but how  we can measure the  degree of this discontent? Some citizens want Nikol Pashinyan, some  want other candidates. How should we proceed? What are the measuring  units? That's why we propose, let's hold early elections - and if he  is elected by people, he will go for the post, " the Acting Prime  minister said. Karapetyan also stated that the new Constitution does  not in any way restrict the" Elk "parliamentary faction to nominate  its candidate in the Premiereship.

Karapetyan  also believes that the demands put forward by MP Nikol  Pashinyan are a subjective opinion of one political force. And about.  The premier recalled the elections held in 2017 and their results.  "We all want the next elections to be even better organized, and we  are also not sure that elections in our country or in any other  country are completely ideal until the end," he said, adding that  elections tend to reveal existing sores and vices in the country. He  reminded that there are a lot of problems in Armenia and that's why  the candidate chosen by the people can be chosen only in one way,  namely through elections.

To the remark that Pashinyan does not believe the existing election  code, Karapetyan said that let the political forces gather and  discuss this issue. According to him, that is why a platform for  negotiations is being created. "Let them raise this issue, let them  raise all the issues that they want, we will discuss at the  negotiating table.We have developed the Constitution, laws, and we  can not get out of the framework of the law.We send negative messages  to the world that we can subjectively interpret who is the chosen  people, - concluded the Armenian Prime Minister.
