ArmInfo. The new Government of Armenia will rely exclusively on national interest. The leader of the protest movement, head of the Elk parliamentary faction Nikol Pashinyan stated this at the press conference held in Yerevan on April 24.
According to him, there are no geopolitical players beyond the "velvet revolution"- neither Russia, nor the US, nor the European Union. At the same time, in case of coming to power, the current opposition intends to activate mutually beneficial cooperation with all geopolitical centers, including the Russian Federation, exclusively due to interests of the people and the state,. "Almost all Armenian authorities have always stressed and attached extreme importance to relations with Russia, and we will not be an exception. There is no doubt that it is necessary to maintain a course toward good-neighborly relations with Russian Federation, but this does not mean that there are no problems, "Pashinyan said, pointing out the need to solve these problems. In particular, the oppositionist noted the rejection of Russian companies to sign contracts with drivers from Armenia with national driving licenses. Another issue that needs to be discussed is the supply of arms to Azerbaijan, which changed the balance of power in the region in favor of Baku. There are also economic problems connected with the possibility of the Armenian companies entering the Russian market, etc. "Nevertheless, I believe that there are no unresolved problems in bilateral relations," Nikol Pashinyan stressed, while pointing out the importance of developing relations with Georgia and Iran. "Russia is a friendly country, and I am confident that Moscow will respect the decision of the Armenian people on the future government," the opposition leader said.
He stressed once again that the future leadership of the country will focus exclusively on the national interests of Armenia and Artsakh in foreign policy. "And I, and our movement is not pro-Western, not pro-Russian. We will develop and deepen relations with the EU, the US, Russia, Georgia, Iran and other countries, not to the detriment of the national interests of the country, "Pashinyan said, pointing out also the importance of strengthening the country's armed forces in the country. to counter the aspirations of Azerbaijan.
