ArmInfo. Armenian Assembly of America came out with a statement particularly reading as follows: "After days of nonviolent protests, Armenia's Prime Minister resigned today.
We commend the Armenian people, civil society, and the leadership. This is a watershed moment for Armenia and the region. The Armenian Assembly of America urges the international community to support Armenia for its remarkable demonstration of democracy in action and the rule of law, and to ensure Armenia's security. We congratulate the people of Armenia." Established in 1972, the Armenian Assembly of America is the largest Washington-based nationwide organization promoting public understanding and awareness of Armenian issues. The Assembly is a non- partisan, 501(c)(3) tax-exempt membership organization. It should be noted that the newly-elected Prime Minister of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, submitted his resignation hours earlier. By this step, he was compelled to resort to incessant multi-thousand protest actions throughout the republic.
