In the framework of the criminal case instituted in the Special Investigation Service (SIS) of Armenia on Part 1 and 2 Art. 225, Part 1 of Art. 2251 of the Armenian Criminal Code, 24 protesters were detained for organizing, holding and participating in mass assemblies in violation of public order, as well as the use of violence during the riots.
According to the ministry, within the framework of the criminal case, evidence has been obtained that the persons mentioned, neglecting the provisions of the law "On Freedom of Assembly", actively participated in the illegal protest since April 13.
It is noted that despite numerous calls and warnings to the police, the protesters continued illegal actions, blocked the streets, violated the normal operation of state and other institutions, organized riots and participated in them, using violence against police and other persons. "As a result of these mass dozens of people received physical and material damage, social security was jeopardized," the ministry said.
24 participants in the protests, among those subjected to the drive to the police stations, were detained on suspicion of committing the above-mentioned criminal acts by decision of investigators. Among them, MPs Nikol Pashinyan, Sasun Mikaelyan, Ararat Mirzoyan. Tigran Mazmanyan, Armen Grigoryan, David Sanasaryan, and Gor Mirzoyan, Erik Khachatryan, Haykar Mnatsakanyan were detained on suspicion of using violence during active participation in illegal rallies and riots.
According to the situation on April 22, three of the detainees are in the status of the accused, the rest are suspects. With regard to the accused Mazmanian and Mirzoyan, a preventive measure was seized in the form of arrest, and due to the proper behavior of Khachatryan, taking into account that he is a minor, parents will follow. Note that at the moment, according to various sources, about 200 citizens have been delivered to police stations.
