ArmInfo.Today in Armenia a group of people gathered in a certain building and elected Serzh Sargsyan as Prime Minister of the country. With the same success, they could elect him king or emperor. On April 17, at a large rally organized by the opposition movement "Take a step, refuse Serzh," said Ararat Mirzoyan, a member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia from the faction "Elk".
According to him, there is no Prime Minister Serzh Sargsyan in Armenia, there is no power of the Republican Party, there is the power of the people who gathered in the Republic Square. According to the oppositionist, measures will continue to paralyze state structures. "We will prove that the power in Armenia belongs to the people, and the victory is irreversible," Ararat Mirzoyan said, adding that the authorities had to release all detainees. The deputy stressed that the new movement is rapidly spreading throughout the country. And this movement should become peaceful. "It is necessary to isolate those who will go on provocations, and the principle of peaceful struggle should become prevailing," Ararat Mirzoyan said. At the same time, the activist of the movement David Petrosyan noted that the protesting people can take responsibility and go to the end. For this, the people and the nation must be consolidated.
Sasun Mikaelyan, a Karabakh war veteran, noted that since 2008 such large-scale rallies have never been held in Armenia. "This is an indicator of victory, we did not win the war to live in our own country as a hostage," he stressed. Mikayelyan urged those present under the cover of the meeting of the police and National Security Service to join the national struggle. "Today Serzh Sargsyan is a legitimate prime minister for only 77 people," the MP said, noting that the dictators have always waited, and the sad fate will await. The participants of the rally noted that in Armenia a group of people had seized power, which ignored the people's just indignation about their situation. If the authorities do not listen to the opinion of the people, then the people have all the rights and grounds for shifting this power at any moment. The activists also "informed the international community that Serzh Sargsyan does not represent Armenia, and his decisions are illegal." It should be noted that today Serzh Sargsyan was elected Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia. On the same day, RA President Armen Sarkissian signed a decree on appointing Serzh Sargsyan the head of government. Also on April 17 the leader of the movement, MP Nikol Pashinyan stated that the launch of a non-violent, velvet revolution is being announced in Armenia. According to the oppositionist, the spirit of the revolution is in the air. However, for the accomplishment of the revolution, Pashinyan believes, it is necessary to carry out a "network fight" - to block the normal work of state institutions, including by holding sit-ins in state buildings. Participants in the protest action "Take a step, refuse Serzh" further blocked the entrance to the building of the State Revenue Committee, the moves to the building of the Armenian Foreign Ministry, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Education and a number of other institutions.
