ArmInfo. Participants of the protest action "Make a step, refuse Serzh" plan to close all approaches to the building of the Armenian parliament, in order to prevent the meeting of the National Assembly on April 17, which will hold a vote on the candidacy of former President Serzh Sargsyan for the post of prime minister. "We must prevent" Azerbaijanization "of Armenia," said the leader of the Civil Contract party, MP Nikol Pashinyan, speaking at a rally on the France Square.
According to Pashinyan, April 16 was a turning point in the modern history of the Armenian people. Today, as the oppositionist pointed out, he came to testify that all the talk about the Armenian people being reconciled to this state of affairs is groundless. At the same time, as the deputy noted, the opposition movement achieved great success, largely due to the fact that the initiative was formed spontaneously and "in the name of the victory of a citizen of the Republic of Armenia. The Armenian people are a freedom- loving people and are ready to defend their right to a free and fair future," he said.
As Pashinyan noted, tomorrow, April 17, the Republican majority will meet to vote for Serzh Sargsyan's candidacy. To prevent this action, the oppositionist called on all dissenters to close the streets leading to the building of the National Assembly - Baghramyan Avenue, Saryan, Proshyan, Demirchyan, as well as other possible approaches to the parliament. Pashinyan addressed the people with the question of when it would be more appropriate to close these streets - tonight or tomorrow morning. Most of the protesters supported the first proposal - tonight.
Meanwhile, according to Nikol Pashinyan, information was received that they blocked the road to the Gyumri who wanted to join the demonstrators on the French square. "If they are not allowed to go to Yerevan, we will follow them," the MP threatened. Nevertheless, during the speech of the opposition deputy it became already known that participants of the rally were allowed to enter the capital.
In addition, the oppositionist appealed to all citizens of the country. "I urge Armenian citizens to close all intercommunity and inter-republican roads tomorrow and move towards Yerevan in order to" say their authoritative "no" to the return of Serzh Sargsyan to power."
