ArmInfo.The National Assembly of Armenia at a regular meeting on April 11 unanimously, 95 votes in favor, ratified the agreement on comprehensive and expanded partnership with the European Union.
On the eve of presenting the agreement, Deputy Foreign Minister Karen Nazaryan noted that the document was signed on November 24, 2017 in Brussels. It is designed to provide a healthy regulatory environment that will improve the business climate and investment opportunities for companies of Armenia and the EU and will create an incentive for Armenian companies to sell more goods and services to the EU, and for European companies - to open subsidiaries in Armenia.
By agreement, the European Union confirms its intention, through specific bilateral measures, to maximize the level of nuclear safety in Armenia. Citizens are entitled to expect from the agreement that both Armenia and the EU will pay more attention to the observance of the most important principles of democracy, including free and fair elections, the right to an honest court and respect for human rights in a broader sense.
The agreement launches an independent civil society platform, consisting of organizations from Armenia and the EU. She will follow the implementation of the agreement and can give her recommendations to the leadership of Armenia and the EU. To this end, a Partnership Committee is to be established, which will coordinate the implementation of the provisions of the agreement.
