


ArmInfo. Russian Ambassador to Armenia Ivan Volynkin, completing mission in our country, held a meeting with the Minister of Emergency Situations David Tonoyan.
As the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Armenia told ArmInfo, Tonoyan highly appreciated the Armenian-Russian cooperation in the sphere of emergency situations. As an important achievement during the Ambassador's tenure, the minister indicated the establishment of an Armenian-Russian humanitarian response center. According to him, the center plays a serious role in the disaster risk reduction not only in Armenia, but also in the region.
The ambassador assured that the cooperation will continue to expand.
At the meeting, the sides also discussed the possibilities for continuing cooperation in such areas as seismology, geophysics, hydrometrology, climate change, as well as joint exercises between the rescue service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Armenia, the 102nd Russian military base, and the FSB Russia Office in Armenia and implementation of response plans to disasters.
Tonoyan invited Volynkin to take part in commemorative events timed to the 30th anniversary of the Spitak earthquake, which will be held on December 5-7.
