ArmInfo. JSC "Defense Systems" presented at the second International Exhibition of Arms and Defense Technologies ArmHiTec-2018 a complex of electronic warfare against small-size unmanned vehicles "Repellent".
As the leading engineer of the company from Moscow Andrey Trunov told ArmInfo correspondent, the complex is designed to fight with drones. "The complex detects drones on approach, at a distance of 5-10 km. Automatically analyzes the signal, determines that it is a UAV, and then turns on the jammer, thereby disabling it," said Trunov.
He added that Armenia also participates in production programs. Trunov also said that they are at the exhibition for the first time and they hope to receive interesting proposals. He informed that the Armenian side has not got this system yet. "Armenia has "Repellent" complexes of another modification. It has slightly different tasks, for longer distances. Interference is created and the UAV cannot position itself. The control channel also does not transmit, and it turns into something flying by itself," the Russian engineer specified.
Answering to clarifying question whether the complex is able to combat foreign-made UAVs, as it was for example during the April war in 2016, when Azerbaijan used Israeli drone, Trunov noted that the system is designed to fight precisely with drones of that class.
The company was formed on January 23, 1996 as a joint venture under a Russia-Belarus intergovernmental agreement. It consists of 38 subsidiaries in both countries.[2] The company focuses on upgrading S- 125 (SA-3) SAM systems to the modern Pechora-2M and Pechora-2A variants, and on the production of S-300PMU air defense systems. In addition, JSC Defense Systems produces the Phoenix optronic round-scan target detection system, and the P-18 andKama-N radars. The company also provides a wide range of services for foreign customers on maintenance and repair of ADMS means both in Russia and on the territory of the customer. The company currently produces about 15-17 Pechora-2M systems each year.
The organizers of the exhibition are the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia, the CJSC "Yerevan Math Machine Plant" ("ErMMP") and the CJSC "Association of Exhibition Companies". More than 30 manufacturers from 14 countries will demonstrate their products at the exhibition, including Russia, Poland, Bulgaria, Germany, Italy, Kazakhstan, India, China, as well as representatives of Armenian companies.
