ArmInfo. In Armenia, 13 cases of measles have been registered since the beginning of the year.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Health, 11 people were not vaccinated at all, 11 of them fell ill, and 2 were not vaccinated fully. Seven of the sick are children aged 1-15 years. Two patients aged 20-26 years, and 4 aged 40-44 years.
According to information published by the WHO Regional Office for Europe, measles cases have increased in Europe. In 2017, the incidence of measles in European countries has tripled. The epidemic is most prevalent in Romania, Italy, Greece, Germany, Ukraine, Georgia and Russia.
In the Republic of Armenia, the situation of diseases of measles and rubella is still stable from 2007 to 2018, but the presence of unvaccinated or not fully vaccinated citizens can contribute to the epidemic in the country.
The Armenian Ministry of Health calls on all unvaccinated citizens to contact local polyclinics and carry out the necessary vaccinations. The only safe and effective way to prevent measles is vaccination.
The case of blue cough was also revealed in the republic, one case was fatal. The vast majority of the patients also did not undergo a full vaccination.
