Deputy FM: Armenia will first of all be guided by its own interests  with regard to the acquisition of armaments 

ArmInfo. On the issue of acquiring arms, Armenia  will first of all be guided by its own interests, said Deputy Defense  Minister of Armenia, Chairman of the State Military Industry  Committee David Pakhchanyan.

Speaking at a press conference in Yerevan on March 28, the deputy  minister, commenting on the US threat to apply sanctions against  states, continuing to acquire weapons from Russia, in particular,  said: "Sanctions are, of course, a problem, but Armenia has a  security issue, so we will, first of all, be guided by our own  interests."

It should be noted that at the end of January new American sanctions  entered into force that allow the US to impose a number of financial  sanctions against those who carry out a "significant transaction with  a person in the defense or intelligence agencies of the government of  the Russian Federation or acting on their behalf or on their behalf  instructions ". The list includes 39 Russian defense enterprises,  including Rosoboronexport. As it became known, the US informed  Armenia and other countries that sanctions against them could be  introduced in their case if purchases of Russian military equipment  continue.  It is noteworthy that Russia is the second largest  exporter of weapons in the world, therefore the list of those who can  theoretically fall under sanctions is huge.
