ArmInfo.Today, the Honorary Consulate of Luxembourg in Armenia will be opened in Yerevan. On March 27, Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian said this at a joint press conference with Luxembourg's Foreign and European Affairs Minister Jean Asselborn in Yerevan.
According to him, the visit of the Foreign Minister of Luxembourg to Yerevan is a good opportunity to discuss a wide range of issues on the bilateral agenda. "The morning began with the visit of the Tsitsernakaberd memorial complex of the victims of the Armenian Genocide by the Luxembourg Foreign Minister, and we highly appreciate Luxembourg's contribution to the prevention of crimes against humanity, as well as the adoption in 2015 of a resolution on the recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide," Nalbandian said. At the same time, he said that Asselborn will be received by the Armenian president during the visit, then he will give a lecture at the diplomatic school, and in the afternoon will take part in the opening of the Honorary Consulate of Luxembourg in Yerevan.
From the point of view of strengthening economic contacts, Nalbandian noted the importance of holding a forum between the two countries in the field of economy and insurance, taking into account Luxembourg's experience in these areas.
At the same time, he expressed gratitude to Luxembourg for assistance in holding the summit of Francophonie in Yerevan. "Naturally, Armenia-EU relations were discussed, and the opportunities opened by the framework agreement on a comprehensive and expanded partnership touched upon parliamentary cooperation and the expansion of the regulatory framework," the Armenian minister said.

According to him, this summit is a good opportunity to strengthen the French language position in Armenia. "Today in Yerevan the Honorary Consulate of Luxembourg will be opened.Suren Zohrabyan will become an honorary consul of our consulate. In this region there is still no our embassy, and I believe that the opening of the Honorary Consulate in Armenia is the first step on this path," the diplomat said.
