
ArmInfo. Chairman of the National Assembly Ara Babloyan on March 25, within the framework of the 138th Assembly of the IPU, met in Geneva with the Chairman of the Parliament of the Republic of Bulgaria, Tsveta Karayancheva.
According to the press service of the Parliament, speaking about the long-standing friendship and cultural communities of the two peoples, Babloyan noted that there is every reason for further development of the Armenian-Bulgarian relations. The stable development of friendly relations with Bulgaria and the strengthening of the political dialogue between the two states, according to the deep conviction of the Speaker of the Armenian Parliament, are very important for the Republic of Armenia. Babloyan, while acknowledging the already established friendship groups in the legislative bodies of the two countries, a good tradition of mutual understanding and cooperation, stressed the role of parliamentary diplomacy in terms of strengthening bilateral relations and deepening cooperation.
The Chairman of the Parliament congratulated his Bulgarian counterpart and wished him success in connection with Bulgaria's chairmanship of the EU Council. In particular, Babloyan noted: "We share the motto of chairing Bulgaria that a unification is needed to solve the existing problems of the EU ".
Speaking about the Agreement on the comprehensive and expanded partnership of the Republic of Armenia - EU, signed in Brussels last November, the RA leader noted that the document opens a new page in the relations between Armenia and the European Union. Babloyan expressed the hope that Bulgaria will ratify the agreement in a short space of time.
"Madam Chairman, I am glad for our meeting and I am confident that the regularity of such meetings will give a new impetus to both the development of interstate relations and the strengthening of the bilateral mutually beneficial "NA Speaker Tsveta Karayancheva thanked for the meeting and said:" I assure that in the person of Bulgaria, Armenia has a kind friend which is promoting the RA in matters of cooperation with the EU."
The parties agreed to deepen parliamentary cooperation, as well as take the necessary steps to develop cooperation between the two countries in various fields.
