ArmInfo. The international community again, this time with the words of the Chairman of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Georgy Tsereteli, rather transparently hinted to Azerbaijan about the need to change the maximalist policy on the Karabakh issue and return to the constructive channel.
This opinion was expressed in the conversation with ArmInfo correspondent by the Vice Speaker of the Armenian Parliament Eduard Sharmazanov, referring to Tsereteli's statement about the need to redouble efforts towards a peaceful resolution of the Karabakh conflict, voiced during the meeting with the leader of the AR Ilham Aliyev. "The fact that the OSCE PA President once again expressed full support to the Minsk Group and the mandate of Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office Andrzej Kasprzyk is a veiled call to Baku to adopt and implement the Vienna and St. Petersburg agreements, among which, among other things, the mandate of Kasprzyk's office. As you know, the Armenian side accepted these agreements, and Baku refuses to implement them, that is, Tsereteli at the meeting with Aliyev indirectly announced the consonance the positions of the Armenian side, the international community and Minsk mediators, "Sharmazanov said.
At that, Sharmazanov stressed that it is important that these appeals are heard by Azerbaijan itself. "Whether they hear Baku, we learn after the presidential elections, but at the moment the authorities of the AR ignoring the appeals of the international community are conducting large-scale military exercises. I have repeatedly stated that sanctions should be applied against the authorities of Azerbaijan, since only after that Baku will change its policy, "the vice-speaker noted, while stressing that the goal of the Armenian side is not punishment of Azerbaijan, but its return to the constructive channel and appearance of the independent state Artsakh on the world map.
The other day during a meeting with the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, OSCE PA President Georgi Tsereteli, in particular, stated about the need to redouble efforts of the parties towards a peaceful resolution of the Karabakh conflict. He also expressed his concern over the tense situation on the frontline, life- blowing people, as well as the suffering of the civilian population in the Karabakh conflict zone. He once again expressed support for the Assembly to the peaceful efforts of the Minsk mediators, as well as the activities of the office of Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office Andrzej Kasprzyk.
