ArmInfo. On March 10, a protest action against Serzh Sargsyan's premiership, organized by the hero of the Karabakh war under arrest, Zhirayr Sefilyan, "The Front for the Salvation of Armenia", will be held on "Liberty" Square in Yerevan.
The organizers of the action do not yet know what outcome it will have, whether it will grow into mass, permanent rallies and processions or not. "Everything will depend on the will and activity of the people," representatives of the initiative group noted. They also found it difficult to say which of the opposition forces will join them, and ex-Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan and ex-Foreign Minister Vardan Oskanian will participate in the rallies.
Unambiguously, Heritage Party announced its intention to take part in the Saturday rally. The chairman of the party, Armen Martirosyan, in a conversation with the correspondent of ArmInfo, in particular, stated that the opposition's struggle should be directed not only against Serzh Sargsyan, but also the ruling system as a whole. "The system of government in Armenia is regressive, it is anti-democratic and destroys the will and rights of our citizens." It is necessary to shift power and carry out radical reforms to change the situation in the country, "Martirosyan said. He also noted that the success of such protests primarily depends on the will of the people and their desires. "If the citizens of Armenia can unite in a united front and jointly oppose the authorities, we will be able to achieve success, otherwise, without our compatriots' support, nothing will come of us, as we know, one in the field is not a warrior," concluded the chairman "Heritage".
In turn, the leader of the Yerkir Tsirani party, Zaruhi Postanjyan, noted that she can not join the protest, since she is going to Syunik. "For me, first and foremost, it is important to promote the program of our party, so now we're going to Syunik for the promotion of our opposition movement. Of course, I support all kinds of protest against the authorities in Armenia. However, I can not say whether they would be effective>, - concluded Postanjyan.
MP from the bloc "Yelk", member of the "Education of Armenia" Mane Tandilyan stated that the discussions in the block with respect to participation in Saturday's rally was not. "Perhaps some members of the bloc will take part in the protest, but we did not hold discussions on this issue," Tandilyan said. Meanwhile, the head of the faction bloc "Yelk" Nikol Pashinyan, one of the first stated the need to fight against a possible prime minister, Serzh Sargsyan and promised to come to the square "Freedom", even if it has not will join other opposition figures and forces, and he will be subject to the same persecution, as well as after the 2008 rallies.
Another representative of the radical opposition, the deputy chairman of the party Armenian National Congress Aram Manuyan, who along with his party members have repeatedly stated the need to consolidate against the authorities and Serzh Sargsyan, in particular, did not want to "overshadow" their leisure time, in response to political issues. As Manukyan told ArmInfo correspondent, he is behind the city and does not want to discuss working issues on a day off. It turns out that the struggle with the authorities of the ANC only realizes on working days, and on weekend "criminal activity of the regime" does not concern radical oppositionists.
It should be noted that at present the organizers of the rally are negotiating with representatives of various parties for the purpose of universal consolidation.
In 2014, before the constitutional referendum on Armenia's transition to a parliamentary form of government, Serzh Sargsyan promised not to claim the post of prime minister after the expiry of the presidential term if the draft law of the Basic Law was passed. However, at present the representatives of the Republican Party do not hide their intention to initiate the process of Serzh Sargsyan's premiership. And in private conversations, high-ranking members of the RPA and the government claim that this is already a settled issue.
