ArmInfo. Minister of Emergencies David Tonoyan received a delegation from the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland on March 6 under the leadership of Ambassador Judith Margaret Farnworth.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, during the meeting the sides discussed the possibilities of expanding the Armenian-British cooperation in the field of emergency situations and ensuring the continuity of joint programs.
Minister Tonoyan highly appreciated the cooperation with Great Britain, stressing the importance of joint exercises aimed at increasing the level of civil readiness, resistance and population resilience to emergency situations. The Minister of Emergency Situations also noted the importance of training and retraining of the personnel of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
The parties also agreed to develop and launch a joint program to raise public awareness in emergency situations.
At the end of the meeting, Minister Tonoyan invited British delegates to participate actively in a series of national and international events to prevent emergencies that will take place in Armenia. These programs include the Regional Platform of Central Asia and the South Caucasus, as well as the "Sustainable Armenia" event, dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Spitak earthquake.
