During the working meeting with Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, the Executive Director of the Center for Strategic Initiatives of the Government of the Republic of Armenia, Alexander Khachatryan, reported on the works carried out by the Center in 2017, the main activities and plans for the future.
According to the press service of the president, Alexander Khachatryan, in particular, presented programs implemented as a result of cooperation with government agencies, other interested structures, organizations and individuals that are aimed at reforms in the priority areas of the fund's activities: public administration, education, tax and customs administration, legal, tourism, agriculture, information and high technologies. He also reported on the work carried out in the direction of comments and approaches that were voiced during the president's visit to the Center for Strategic Initiatives on February 22 last year. The Executive Director of the Center presented to Sargsyan the most interesting programs implemented in each priority area, as well as details on the work on the development strategy of Armenia until 2030 and the organization of forthcoming public discussions of this document, noting that, in order to stimulate this process, the SRC assumed the role of an assistant. Alexander Khachartian presented that within the framework of reforms in the sphere of public administration, together with the Arar Foundation, an analysis of the activities of the ministries of agriculture, as well as economic development and investments was carried out. At present, road maps for further actions are being designed for ministries, taking into account the provisions of the new Law on Civil Service and clarification of the sectoral strategies of the ministries. The Executive Director presented one more program, which is implemented on the initiative and direct supervision of the Center with funding from the EU, - the program of young experts "YES Armenia". Within the framework of the program, 21 young Armenians from Armenia and the Diaspora work for 12 months in ministries and other government departments on programs resulting from the priorities of the government. One of the missions of the program is to make the work in the state system more attractive and modern, with the participation of trained and advanced specialists. Among the works performed by the Center, Alexander Khachatryan also reported on the work undertaken jointly with the Digital Armenia Fund to develop the framework document "The agenda for the digital transformation of Armenia in 2018-2030." The document is currently under discussion.
The Center for Strategic Initiatives, according to Alexander Khachatryan, with the financing of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and with the involvement of an international expert group, helps the Ministry of Economic Development and Initiatives in drafting the RA Law on Public- Private Partnerships. The bill is aimed at streamlining relations in Armenia related to the design, implementation and monitoring of private-state transactions. In the course of the working meeting, the sides also discussed the implemented and planned work in cooperation with partner organizations regarding the implementation of the goals of sustainable development of the United Nations in Armenia, reform of tax and customs administration, state policy in the sphere of tourism.
The President gave a number of instructions regarding the current activities of the Center for Strategic Initiatives and the implementation of future programs.
