In this  regard, the Elk faction developed a draft of the Parliament's  statement "On the events of March 1, 2008", which, however, received  a negative conclusion of the commission on state and legal issues. "  This was during the hearings in the Parliament on "Events March 1 -  2, 2008" on February 23, said the head of the "Elk" faction Nikol  Pashinyan.

The deputy noted that the representatives of the "Elk" bloc express  their dissatisfaction with the fact that the cases of falsification  of the elections in 2008 were not properly considered and outraged by  the fact that the guilty events of March 1, 2018 were not yet  revealed.

The statement developed by the bloc reads: "We declare that we deeply  condemn the fact that after the rigged presidential elections of  2008, on the night of March 1 to 2, the RA police used force against  peaceful protesters, and the authorities started harassment with  respect to opposition politicians.We are asking the law enforcement  bodies of Armenia to find and punish the perpetrators of the crimes  committed on March 1. We consider it unacceptable to dissolve the  group of experts on the events of March 1, as they could shed light  on the army's participation in these events.

 We urge the Prosecutor General of Armenia to reconsider the  indictments against opposition politicians and activists on March 1.  We are committed to developing a legislative package that will  provide decent compensation to the relatives of the victims of March  1 events, those who were convicted, as well as citizens who were  injured by the police, "Pashinyan said.

In support of the proposal to put into circulation the draft of the  Parliament's statement on the events of March 1, 2008, in particular,  it says: "The purpose of this statement is to express the political  assessment of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia on the  events of March 1, 2008 - in particular, that the murders have not  yet been uncovered, political persecution of the opposition by the  authorities has been carried out.The document is also intended to  assess the government's attempts to hide the most important episodes  of March 1 events, the political persecution of relatives TV, as well  as concealing the fact that the relatives of the victims and injured  as a result of the unlawful use of force by the police, did not  receive legal compensation. "

It should be noted that on March 1, 2008, the Armenian police applied  force against citizens holding a peaceful rally on Liberty Square in  Yerevan in protest against the falsification of the presidential  elections.  The meetings lasted about 10 days. As a result of the use  of force, the police killed 10 people. The names of the killers have  not been disclosed to this day. On October 23, 2008, Serzh Sargsyan  established a group of experts whose purpose was to gather facts  about the events of March 1, 2008. However, in June 2009, he  dissolved this group.
