ArmInfo. President of the Lebanese Republic Michel Aoun, who is on an official visit to Armenia, met with the Speaker of the National Assembly Ara Babloyan on February 22. According to the press service of the Parliament, Babloyan expressed hope that the visit of the president will help strengthen and deepen bilateral relations. The Head of the Parliament highly appreciated the political relations between Armenia and Lebanon, stipulating their centuries-old friendship, historical ties and the significant role of the local Armenian community. Babloyan highly appreciated the contribution of Michel Aun to the stability, security and development of Lebanon. Speaking about the Armenian community, the head of the parliament stated that Armenians are primarily loyal citizens and play a significant role in the political, economic, social and cultural life of the country. The speaker stressed the need to strengthen the Armenian-Lebanese inter-parliamentary ties and cooperation of deputy friendship groups. The President of the Lebanese Republic, thanking for the warm welcome, noted that he was glad to visit Armenia. According to Michel Aoun, Lebanon is a country of cultural diversity, where people of different nationalities and different faiths live side by side in harmony, respecting each other. The President, referring to regional problems, highlighted the provision of security and stability. At the end of the meeting, the President of the Lebanese Republic made a note in the Book of Honorary Guests of the National Assembly.
