ArmInfo. RA presidential candidate, Armenian Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Great Britain Armen Sargsyan continues meetings with representatives of political forces, national structures, and public organizations.
On the eve of the visits to the Armenian communities of foreign countries, Armen Sargsyan in Brussels met with representatives of the Armenian community of Belgium, where heads and representatives of about two dozen Armenian structures of the country took part. They presented their candidacies and ideas to the presidential candidate of Armenia about the future of Armenia, touched upon the problems of the community and the possibility of involving the diaspora in the implementation of various programs.
Speaking about his vision of the future of Armenia, Armen Sargsyan considered the primary task of developing the quality and effectiveness of education. He also pointed to the importance of more effective and mutually beneficial cooperation between Armenia and the Diaspora.
As ArmInfo informed earlier, after the meetings with the public and numerous consultations, the presidential candidate Armen Sargsyan gave his consent to run for this post. Sargsyan said this on February 16 during a meeting with the current head of state, President of the country, Serzh Sargsyan. The RA Ambassador to Great Britain made this decision on the results of his election campaign. Sargsyan assured that he will be able to fulfill the powers of the President with honor, and he will not spare efforts in this direction. "This is a very responsible job, but I will do my best," the candidate assured. In case of his election, Sargsyan promised to focus on three issues: raising the level of education, ensuring the unity of the Armenian people and close ties between the Motherland and the Diaspora and the development of civil society.
In turn, Serzh Sargsyan expressed hope that Sargsyan will be elected to the presidency in an atmosphere of consensus. He also noted that the presidential elections in the parliament will be held in the first week of March.
Meanwhile, ArmInfo earlier with reference to the high-ranking sources in the Republican Party of Armenia informed that initially Armen Sargsyan gave his consent to the nomination. "If we officially declared him our candidate, then this question has already been discussed," the source said.
