ArmInfo. Armenia is concerned about the emergence of a new rise of tension in the region. Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian stated this on January 29, summing up the results of 2017, answering the question about Turkey's actions in Syria.
"Undoubtedly, there is concern about the emergence of a new hotbed of tension in the region that has caused casualties, including among the civilian population, wounded, including Syrian Armenians, which is a serious cause for concern," Nalbandian said. At the same time, he stressed that the successes achieved in the fight against the ISIS and other terrorist groups inspired the hope that peace and stability would be established in Syria. "Meanwhile, the emergence of this kind of tension can become a serious obstacle in the process of establishing stability. We are in favor of resolving controversial issues through negotiations, using international platforms involved in this issue. I mean both the Geneva and the Astana processes. In Sochi, the Syrian National Congress was launched, which is another important international platform, which, we hope, will achieve stability and peace, and resolve issues through dialogue", he concluded.
