ArmInfo. Armenia was committed to the implementation of the Zurich protocols from the day they were initiated - about ten years ago. On January 29, the summing up of the results of 2017, Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian stated.
The minister recalled that the Armenian side has always been committed to both the process and the agreements reached. "Not Armenia, but Turkey refused to fulfill the signed protocols." In recent years, the society has said that "the ball is on the side of Turkey." But today we can say that the ball is in the gates of Turkey. And in this sense, if any of them the parties should be concerned about their image on this issue, then this is definitely not Armenia, "the head of the Armenian Foreign Ministry said. Referring to when the Armenian-Turkish protocols are removed from the agenda, Nalbandian stressed that the Armenian position will become known in the time frames marked by the Armenian president. Answering the question about the difficulties of assisting Armenian citizens in Turkey as a result of the absence of diplomatic relations, Nalbandian once again stated that it is not through the fault of the Armenian side that today there are no relations with Ankara. According to him, the absence of diplomatic relations complicates the process of rendering proper assistance to both Armenian citizens and the Armenians of Turkey in general. He added that if there were relations, the consular services functioned, then everything was easier, however, despite all this, the Armenian side in every single case makes efforts to provide timely and proper assistance. In Q2 2017, Armenian President stated from the UN General Assembly platform, that the spring of 2018 Armenia would meet without the Armenian-Turkish protocols, since there is no positive progress in their implementation.
