ArmInfo. The pre-holiday action "Surb Sargis" initiated by the Russian-Armenian Youth Union, the youth non-governmental organization City Look and the human rights organization International Center for Democracy took place in Yerevan. As the press service of the RAYU told ArmInfo, activists passed through the streets of the small center of Yerevan, handing out booklets telling passers-by about the essence of the primordially Armenian holiday of Surb Sargis. "St. Sarkis Day is a wonderful Armenian holiday of winter, which brings warmth to the frozen hearts of people." The day when you can simply confess your feelings, make the person you love more pleasant. "Recently, Armenian youth prefers to celebrate Valentine's Day more actively than our traditional St. Sargis Day, which is why we decided to hold this event on the eve of St. Sargis Day, introducing to the part of our culture also the foreign youth living with us." Rafael Pogosyan said. The action was held on the Northern Avenue, the event was opened by the speech of the representative of the Ararat Patriarchal Diocese, who told everyone present the history of the origin of the holiday and about how to celebrate the given day properly. After that, accompanied by Armenian music flashmob began. Everyone could write their wishes, as well as their ideas about the concept of love. The organizers of the action made the first inscriptions on the stand, after which participants, representatives of the media, and of course simple passers-by, joined them. The action was attended by many representatives of various Armenian youth organizations, representatives of the Youth Parliament, state structures, foreigners, which led to inscriptions in different languages, which once again proved that love is everywhere. The culmination of the action was, of course, the distribution of the main symbol of the holiday-salty cakes. According to the ancient tradition, on the night before the holiday "Surb Sargis" young people eat salty cakes, after that they do not drink anything, waiting to see a groom or daughter-in-law in the dream, who will give them a drink.
