ArmInfo.On January 26, the Artsakh Republic Foreign Minister Masis Mayilyan received the head of the program of the non-governmental organization The HALO Trust in Artsakh, Michael Newton.
As the press service of the Artsakh Foreign Ministry reports, the parties discussed a number of issues concerning the activities of the organization for demining in Artsakh, in particular, the implementation of the programs planned for the near future.
Masis Mailyan confirmed the willingness of the Artsakh authorities to continue to provide all possible assistance to the activities of The HALO Trust in the republic.
HALO Trust is a British charitable and American non-profit organization that deals with the clearance of landmines and unexploded ordnance that could pose a threat to civilians. Earlier it was reported that, as of September 2017, over 8,733 antipersonnel mines, 2,584 anti-tank mines, 180,858 small arms, 12,423 cluster bombs and 48,572 other explosive devices in Artsakh were destroyed over the last 16 years. HALO Trust hopes to complete work on the demining of Artsakh by 2020.
