ArmInfo. France welcomes any meetings aimed at a long-term settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
French Ambassador to Armenia Jonathan Lacote said this at a press conference in Yerevan on January 18, commenting on the upcoming meeting of Armenian FMs in Krakow and its productivity against the backdrop of continuing deaths on the contact line of troops, at ArmInfo's request.
According to him, France's position on this issue has not changed. "We remain concerned over the fact that the Karabakh conflict remains unresolved, France calls on the parties through dialogue to reach a long-term settlement of the conflict and in this context any meeting of the parties is welcome," the French diplomat said. At the same time, he stressed that the French co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group Stefan Visconti is competent to comment on this issue.
"My mission in Armenia is to contribute to the deepening of the Armenian-French relations, including in the political, economic, humanitarian and other spheres that are of mutual interest," the diplomat concluded. It should be noted that today in Krakow, Poland, a meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan on Nagorno-Karabakh is planned, initiated by the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group. On the eve of the meeting mediators met with the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan.
