ArmInfo. Armenian policemen will get right to implement video and photo shooting in public places, amendments to the law "On Police" were made at the meeting of the National Assembly of Armenia on January 17.
According to the Deputy Chief of Police of the RA Vardan Yeghiazaryan, the document is based on the government's program of activities for 2017, and is aimed at identifying and preventing crimes, maintaining public order, ensuring road safety. In the bill, the reasons for using such equipment, the procedure, the terms of data preservation, the legitimacy of the collection and use of information, the boundaries of interference in the personal life of citizens are established. The bill specifies the placement of audio and video equipment in public places, as well as the use of police video and audio equipment on vehicles.
At the same time, the technique will be exclusively official, not personal. If the offenses are detected using technical means, the police officer will not have the right to stop or suspend the video or photo shoots. With the use of these funds, a compulsory requirement to prevent filming (in the case of filming with movable assets - verbally, with immovable ones - by installing shields and posting a message on the Police website) will initially apply. The terms of preservation of video and photographic materials are established - 7 days, after which they are subject to destruction. At the same time, there are cases in which this period can be extended. The document also defines a list of police officers who have the right to access and read the database.
