ArmInfo. Young citizens of Armenia will have to present their passports when they visit gambling establishments. Corresponding amendments to the law "On Winning Games, Internet Games and Casinos" were made at the meeting of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia on January 17 in the first reading.
As the deputy of the National Assembly from the opposition faction "Elk" Edmond Marukyan noted in his speech, according to the current legislation, individuals under the age of 21 do not have the right to visit gambling establishments, and even more so, to make bets. But the legislation of the country lacked control mechanisms from the organizers of the games with a win for the implementation of this provision. Now young people will have to present their passports. In addition, the document requires the Ministry of Finance to develop a database of persons recognized by courts as persons with limited legal capacity.
For this category of people, access to gambling establishments will also be prohibited. At the same time, a person suffering from ludomania will receive the right to apply to the RA Ministry of Finance with a statement about his inclusion in the database, and, thereby, will receive a ban on visiting gambling establishments. Edmond Marukyan said that the presented version is a compromise with the government of the republic, but in the future a new draft law will be developed.
