Yerevan: Ankara`s attempts to talk to Armenia through ultimatums are  unacceptable and senseless

"If the Turkish authorities take the initiative and agree to sign the Zurich  protocols without any conditions, we are ready to resume negotiations and ratify the documents, but we do not see such an initiative on the part of the Turkish authorities," Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Shavarsh stated in a conversation with journalists Kocharyan.

He noted that all the mediators understood for a long time that  Armenia, for its part, had come a long way, and that it was up to  Turkey. However, Kocharian noted that this does not mean that there  is no prospect in the development of the Armenian-Turkish relations  and in the implementation of the Zurich protocols.  "But, of course,  we all understand that the current Turkish authorities are not the  most successful partners for implementing such agreements," he said.

As for why it is precisely the spring of the cancellation of these  protocols that is precisely the spring of 2018 and whether this is  due to the fact that Serzh Sargsyan's presidential term expires in  the spring, Shavarsh Kocharyan noted: "Undoubtedly, since in  connection with the transition to a parliamentary form of government  in Armenia there will be certain changes, and the president himself  appointed this term, he has similar powers and acts in this case  correctly. " He stressed that Ankara's conditioning of the Karabakh  settlement by the normalization of relations with Armenia led to the  "death" of the Zurich documents. "It's unacceptable for Armenia, it's  pointless to talk to us with the language of ultimatums, moreover, it  is obvious that the further Ankara will keep from the  Armenian-Azerbaijani relations and the Artsakh issue, the more  prospects for the establishment of the Armenian-Turkish dialogue,"  concluded Shavarsh Kocharyan.
