Shavarsh Kocharyan: Meetings between Foreign Ministers of Armenia and  Azerbaijan decrease intension at the contact line

ArmInfo."When we speak about the meetings between the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan, we should note that the discussion is going on in the direction of  making progress in the negotiations, which is not visible, and this can be seen even with the naked eye, and at this stage it is simply impossible to talk about it," Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Shavarsh Kocharyan stated in a conversation with journalists.

"It is because there is no trust between the sides, and that is why  the negotiations reach no progress. It is necessary to implement such  mechanisms that would promote creation of trust atmosphere- we are  talking about the preservation of the cease-fire and ceasefire. From  this point of view, the talks are aimed at solving this problem, and  they reduce the tension on the contact line between the Armed Forces  of Azerbaijan and Azerbaijan. Of course, we continue to incur losses,  of course the shots continue, but nevertheless the heat on the  contact line decreases, "Kocharian noted.

Referring to  the possibility of the next meeting of the Armenian and  Azeri leaders taking into account the forthcoming expiry of  presidential term of office of Serzh Sargsyan, Kocharian noted that  such meetings are connected with the results of the talks of the  foreign ministers. "And since the Nalbandyan- Mammadyarov meeting has  not yet taken place, it is difficult to make any forecasts,"  Kocharian said, adding that the ministerial meeting will be held in  mid-January, and soon the venue and time will be announced.
