ArmInfo. The Armenian government approved the Council of Europe Convention on Prevention and Combating Violence against Women and Domestic Violence during its December 28 meeting.
As the Minister of Justice of Armenia David Harutyunyan stated, the Council of Europe Convention entered into force in 2014, it was signed by all member countries of the Council of Europe, with the exception of two states. Not wishing to elaborate on the details of the document, the minister recalled that some time ago a project on prevention of family violence, protection of persons subjected to domestic violence was widely discussed in Armenia.
"Basically, the provisions of this law are taken from this convention," he said. The head of the Ministry of Justice noted that in connection with a number of provisions of the European convention Armenia offers to make reservations - a number of provisions will not be applied to the republic. "This is due to the peculiarities of the country's legal system," David Harutyunyan said.
It should be reminded that earlier the Armenian parliament approved the law "On the prevention of family violence and protection of persons subjected to family violence and reconciliation in the family. "
