ArmInfo.In the Turkish city of Diyarbakir, a group of unidentified people broke into the Armenian church of Surb Kirakos and caused a devastation. According to the publication "Al-Monitor", referring to the words of the Armenian church ringleader Armen Demirchyan, the members of this group were armed with sledgehammers, and as a result of the pogrom of the church, considerable damage was caused.
Note that as a result of the pogrom the altar of the church was destroyed, icons with the image of Christian saints were destroyed. The Surb Kirakos temple, located in the Turkish city of Diyarbekir is the largest Armenian church in the Middle East. For many years this church was abandoned. However, in 2011, thanks to the donations of the Armenian diaspora, about $ 700 thousand were raised, the church was restored to these funds, and its doors were reopened for the parishioners.
Recall that in September 2015 during clashes between Turkish government troops and Kurdish rebels (PKK), the church was destroyed again.
