ArmInfo. Armenia-NATO cooperation is based on the interests of both sides. This was  announced at a joint briefing with Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian in Yerevan by NATO Deputy Secretary General Rose Gottemoeller.

She again thanked Armenia for participating in peacekeeping missions  and for organizing the "NATO Week". Gottemoeller also stressed that  there are prospects for the development of Armenia-NATO cooperation.

In his turn, the RA Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian noted that  Armenia has become a state-supplier from the consumer country of  peace and security. "Despite the fact that our country has security  problems, nevertheless, we are making a serious contribution to  ensuring its security," the minister said. He also noted that the  Armenia-NATO relations have significantly expanded over the past 25  years.

Nalbandyan said that during the meeting with the Deputy Secretary  General, prospects for cooperation were discussed, and the importance  of high-level dialogue was stressed. The parties also discussed the  Individual Partnership Program and the activities of the Trust Fund,  within which old weapons will be destroyed.

During the meeting, regional issues were discussed, including the  Karabakh problem. "We highly appreciate the assistance of NATO to the  peacekeeping efforts of Minsk mediators," Nalbandian said.
