ArmInfo.Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan received the newly appointed EU Special Representative for the issues of the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia Toivo Klaar.
According to the press service of the Armenian leader, Sargsyan positively assessed the fact that an experienced diplomat has been appointed to this post. At the same time, he expressed hope that the activities of Claire will make a positive contribution not only to the efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group co- chairs for the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, but will also give a new impetus to the Armenia-EU relations.
Noting that the former representative Herbert Salber managed to create a favorable working atmosphere and conduct wide open discussions, the Armenian President expressed his confidence that work with the new special representative will also proceed to the house.
In turn, Clar stressed that the purpose of his mission is to contribute to the efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs, and he personally will spare no effort to assist in the resolution of the Karabakh conflict.
Noting that the new Armenia-EU framework agreement opens a new chapter in the history of the two countries, Klaar expressed the hope that he will also be able to contribute to the development and expansion of bilateral relations.
