ArmInfo.The European Parliament calls on the leadership of the European Union to begin negotiations with Armenia on simplifying the visa regime. This is stated in the resolution of the European Parliament, adopted on the eve of the plenary session.

The resolution notes that after the EU summit in Riga in 2015 the  republic recorded significant progress in fulfilling its obligations.

There is also a positive example of how a member state of the  Eurasian Economic Union can effectively negotiate with the EU on  signing the Agreement on a deep and comprehensive partnership, which,  as noted in the document, was successfully completed. By the way, the  Azerbaijani lobby tried in vain to introduce in the document quite  the opposite situation, which, on the contrary, accused Armenia of  "betraying" European values and joining the EAEU. However, European  parliamentarians adhered to a fundamentally opposite point of view,  considering Armenia's experience useful and constructive.

"Taking into account Armenia's progress in fulfilling its  obligations, we urge to approve from the RA a preferential visa  regime as well as with Georgia, Ukraine and Moldova," the resolution  says, while leaving the final solution of this issue to the European  Commission and the EU member states.
