During the investigation activities conducted in the criminal case, initiated on the facts of illegal tree cutting in 2014-2017, in protected areas of the state non-commercial organization "National Park Dilijan", it was found that these cases were organized. According to the factual data obtained during the investigation, it was found that a 33-year-old resident of Dilijan with higher education in 2014 was involved in the creation and management of an organized criminal group engaged in cutting trees for the purpose of selling wood. The latter gathered a group of people who cut trees for money. According to the distribution of functions, from 2014 to October 2017, a 33-year-old man in some protected areas of the Haghartsin branch in the Dilijan National Park together with the members of the criminal group carried out cuttings. The felled trees were removed from the territory of the reserve on his car, and then were sold as building materials and firewood. When comparing the obtained evidence, a 33-year-old man was charged with part 3 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Armenia. The man was arrested. Another citizen was charged for direct participation in cutting down trees. The investigation continues. Active investigative actions are conducted to find out all the members of the criminal group and to individualize the actions of each of them," the ministry said.
