ArmInfo. The Union of Informed Citizens states that supplies of Russian weapons for 200 mln to the contract are very slow.
According to the message of the initiative, which came to ArmInfo, the Union of Informed Citizens periodically receives information from RA Ministry of Finance about the amount of Armenia's credit obligations under the agreement, "This amount is equal to the total cost of weapons delivered or having passed a certain production cycle to Armenia. Thus, in response to our request, it was found out that as of October 25, 2017, the credit obligations of the Armenian side under this agreement are 66.6 million. In other words, more than two years after the signing of the treaty, the Armenian side received only 1/3 of the weapons for 200 million. Most of the weapons worth 66.6 million were delivered or produced in December 2016 and September 2017. Such a slowdown in the supply of arms to Armenia is incomprehensible given the speed at which Russia delivers weapons to Azerbaijan, Iraq, Syria and other countries that have a military conflict. At least according to the agreement, only two months remain (until December 31, 2017) for deliveries of the remaining part of the weapons (by about 133.4 million), "the initiative said.
At the same time, the message reads that most of the weapons supplied under the agreement were satisfied with the old (80s, 70s and even 60s technologies), but it also provided for the supply of relatively modern weapons (from 10 to 20 years), for example, heavy flamethrowers system TOS-1A Solntsepek and rocket systems of volley fire Smerch.
Armenian Defense Minister today stated that the process of supplying weapons under the 200 mln loan goes according to the plan. According to him, this is always a complicated process, as within the framework of the loan Armenia acquires the state-of-the-art weapons produced by its order, and does not receive them from warehouses. "Transportation and logistics require time, but we are moving on a normal schedule, and I think that most of the works will be completed by the end of the year," Sargsyan said.
